Mustafa Ahmed Marfani, 25, of Humble, Texas, was shot and killed on April 7, 2016, in the parking lot of the Huffman Mason Lodge in Huffman, Texas. He had been meeting with 27-year-old Leonardo Abarca over a debt of between $1,800 and $2,200; instead of paying, Abarca shot Marfani in the head. Witnesses reported seeing Abarca’s large white truck speeding out of the lot and found Marfani dead in his car.
Police were alerted and Abarca was pulled over the next day. During an interview with detectives he admitted meeting Marfani about the money, became visibly upset and said his life was over and that he was going to jail for a long time. He was charged with murder. Investigators gathered cellphone records, DNA, fingerprints and firearms-ballistics evidence; the Harris County Sheriff’s Office worked with the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force on the investigation.
The victim’s family lost a son and family member in this killing. If anyone knew Mustafa, saw the truck leaving the Huffman Mason Lodge on April 7, 2016, or has information about the case, please come forward.
