Erin Nicole Wright, 39, was shot to death outside her home in Kyle, Texas, on March 26, 2016. Born September 20, 1976, in Biloxi, Mississippi, she had been living in Kyle and worked at the Jalapeno Tree in Denison while studying for a Medical Administrator Certificate. She was remembered as generous, humorous, and devoted to her family.
Erin’s children witnessed their father retrieve a gun from atop a cabinet and shoot their mother; the children’s information to police led to Keen’s arrest. Officers found Keen agitated; he handed them his phone and said he had called his grandfather. He was later charged with murder.
The trial record notes a history of domestic abuse, including prior convictions for assault involving Keen and previous partners. Erin’s death had a deep impact on her family and community. Did anyone who knew Erin or her family see signs of escalating violence before March 26, 2016?
