On March 23, 2016, 20-year-old Dekeilen Joe Nelson of Gilmer was found dead near railroad tracks in Longview, Texas, alongside 28-year-old Kevin Lorenzo Stephenson of Henderson. Both men had suffered gunshot wounds; authorities have classified the incident as a double homicide.

Police reports say Nelson and Stephenson were lured to the home of 52-year-old Craig Davison under the pretense of a dispute over stolen property or drugs. At Davison’s house the victims were reportedly bound with zip-ties, then transported to the railroad tracks. During transport an accidental discharge allegedly struck Stephenson in the back of the head; Nelson was also shot and Davison allegedly fired additional rounds at the victims.

Arrests were made in connection with the killings. Dustin Bennett, 39, of Longview gave differing accounts, at one point saying he meant only to scare the victims and later saying he accidentally fired the gun; he was sentenced to life in prison for his role. Craig Davison and Patricia Baker, 21, faced aggravated kidnapping charges; Baker pleaded guilty to aggravated kidnapping and received a five-year sentence, and Davison was found guilty and sentenced to 54 years.

Did anyone in the Longview or Gilmer area know Nelson or Stephenson and have information about the events that led them to Davison’s house?
