Carmen Danielle Morris, 23, of Palestine, Texas, died on March 19, 2016, after being fatally shot in the head when an 8-year-old relative picked up a rifle at the couple’s home. The child found the weapon while Carmen’s husband was in another room cleaning guns. Carmen received medical attention and was taken to a hospital but did not survive.

Authorities ruled the shooting an accidental discharge and determined there was no intent or negligence by the adults present; no charges were filed and the investigation was closed. Carmen was remembered by family as an amazing mother who loved her husband and children deeply.
