Brenda Hardeman, 50, was fatally shot in her Redwater, Texas home on January 11, 2016. At the time she was home with her husband Levester Hardeman, Levester’s 92-year-old mother, and the elderly woman’s nurse when a 16-year-old boy, Phillip McBride, fired randomly into the house. A relative managed to wrestle a handgun away from McBride briefly, but he returned with a shotgun and continued the attack.
McBride was arrested and charged with murder, evading arrest with a vehicle, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and residential burglary after leading officers on a high-speed chase. A psychologist found McBride did not meet the standards for certification as an adult offender, so his case was handled in juvenile court. He received the maximum juvenile term available, 40 years, and will be re-evaluated around his 19th birthday for possible transfer to an adult facility.
What information do readers have about Brenda’s life in Redwater or about the incident that could add detail to the timeline?
