Marcelino Guerra, 50, of Ben Bolt, Texas, was found dead on October 20, 2015, near County Road 464 in Jim Wells County. He and 53-year-old Robert Mata were discovered after being attacked while cutting brush in South Texas; both men died from the violent assault. A 911 call about a vehicle fire on County Road 148 prompted the Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Department to open the investigation the next day. Guerra’s vehicle was later located burning about 15 miles away in San Diego.

Investigators concluded a group attacked the two men. Evidence recovered tied suspects to the scene, including a victim’s cellphone found several miles away. In the weeks following the murders, Michael Castro and Andres Garza were arrested on multiple charges related to the case, and indictments alleged involvement in the killings as well as subsequent robberies and arson. The community held a memorial service near the site where the bodies were found.

Does anyone have information about Guerra’s movements that day or about people seen in that area around October 20, 2015?
