Michael Blanchard, 42, of Port Arthur, Texas, was shot and killed on September 29, 2015 during an argument over a drug deal. He was sitting in the backseat of a vehicle when 20-year-old passenger Logan Wayne Carter produced a handgun and fired multiple shots; Blanchard was unarmed. His body was later found behind a business on Gulfway Drive in Port Arthur.
Carter was arrested the next day, confessed, and led detectives to where he’d disposed of the handgun. He was charged with murder and aggravated assault; the prosecutor in the case was Assistant District Attorney Mike Laird. Blanchard’s family and friends were left devastated, and the prosecutor noted Blanchard had children and that many lives were ruined by the incident.
Are there any witnesses or local readers who recall details from that night or the investigation?
