Vilet Patricia Torrez, 38, was reported missing from Miramar, Florida, on March 31, 2012. She was last seen on surveillance footage driving her Toyota Sienna minivan into her gated community early that morning; there is no recorded evidence of her leaving afterward. She had spent the previous night with a friend and reportedly called her estranged husband, Cid Torrez, twice that morning — calls he later denied receiving. Her family reported her missing when she did not show up for work.
Investigators focused on Cid because of a history of controlling behavior, jealousy and signs of domestic violence in the relationship. Cadaver dogs detected the scent of human remains in Cid’s vehicle, and he was arrested. In 2017 a jury convicted him of second-degree murder, although Vilet’s body has not been found. She left three children.
Does anyone have information about Vilet’s last day, the minivan, or contacts in Miramar who might help fill in gaps in the timeline?
