Rhonda Masters, 44, of Center Point, Texas, was fatally shot at her home on River Road on February 1, 2015. Her common-law spouse, 49-year-old Cody Lon Smith, told investigators the shooting was accidental, saying he reached beneath her after she rolled onto a handgun while sleeping and the weapon discharged, striking her in the side. Kerr County Sheriff Rusty Hierholzer said Smith’s account did not match the evidence at the scene.

Deputies had been called to the couple’s home multiple times in the week before the shooting because of an ongoing conflict between them, and Rhonda had slept elsewhere the night before the incident. Authorities arrested Smith and charged him with murder; he was being held at the Kerr County Jail awaiting an initial court appearance. At this stage, evidence at the scene was reported as contradicting Smith’s version of events.

Did anyone in Center Point know Rhonda or have information about the disputes between her and Smith that led up to February 1, 2015?
