Misty Michaela Mashburn, 30, of Baird, Texas, was found dead in her boyfriend’s home on January 17, 2015. Born November 7, 1984, in Abilene, she graduated from Cooper High School, studied at Cisco Junior College, and worked as a manager at McDonald’s. She was active in fundraising for Autism Speaks of Abilene.

Investigators determined Misty was killed during a robbery. Her boyfriend reported that two men forced their way into the home and demanded money and cell phones; Misty refused and was shot by one of the intruders. Four people were identified in connection with the crime: Michael Duane Wallace Jr., Shaliko McGee, Briana Payne, and Xavier Sneed. Wallace and McGee pleaded guilty and received 45-year prison terms; Payne and Sneed faced first-degree murder charges and later received prison sentences of 8 and 12 years, respectively.
