Robert Edwards, a 68-year-old Caucasian man, died on January 14, 2015, in Lake Jackson, Texas, after an officer-involved shooting at a home on the 500 block of Sycamore Street. Police responded just after midnight after a housemate reported Edwards was armed and had pointed a weapon. Officers confronted him in his bedroom; he allegedly pointed a semi-automatic pistol at them and did not drop the weapon after two orders. Three of the four responding officers fired, and Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene. The exact number of times he was shot was not disclosed but was believed to be multiple.
The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office and the county district attorney handled the investigation. Officers were placed on administrative leave while investigators reviewed whether their use of force complied with policy. Neighbors described Edwards as a quiet, lonely man who was good to his friends. Does anyone have information about Edwards, the household on Sycamore Street, or the night of January 14, 2015?
