Sharon McNabb, 67, died on November 19, 2014, at her residence in Hawkins, Texas. A licensed vocational nurse who trained at Tyler Junior College in 1983, she worked as a surgical nurse in Houston before moving to East Texas in 2007. Family described her as compassionate, an advocate for dogs, and a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Mineola.

Her survivors include daughter Susan Demet of New Iberia, sisters Patricia Musgrove and Becky Barnes, three grandsons, five great-grandchildren, and extended family and friends. A memorial service was held November 25, 2014, at Golden United Methodist Church in Texas.
