Laura Elaine Ogden, 32, was one of three people killed in a shooting at the Marina Village RV Park in Flour Bluff, Texas, on September 14, 2014. The attack occurred around 7 p.m. on a Sunday evening when 63-year-old Sammuel Everett Toomey allegedly walked the park armed with a handgun and shot neighbors outside their homes. Also killed were Pamela Kay Rhodes, 63, and Ricky Ray Collier, 56; a 10-year-old boy was left critically injured.
Toomey, a longtime resident of the RV park, reportedly had ongoing disputes with neighbors, including Ogden, who had recently moved in with her two children and her fiancé. Ogden is described as a beloved young mother who leaves two children. Toomey was arrested at the scene and showed visible injuries; his attorney later claimed he had been severely beaten by officers during the arrest and filed suit alleging excessive force and failures in supervision and training.
The city of Corpus Christi later settled the lawsuit, agreeing to pay $35,000 to five family members and to cover Toomey’s medical bills and funeral expenses, without admitting wrongdoing. What additional information do readers who knew Laura or lived at Marina Village in 2014 have that could shed light on the dispute or that night?
