Elijah Adam Benson was a 17-year-old senior at Burnet High School who died on August 19, 2014. He was active in the Bulldog Band and varsity BETC, played guitar, wrote music, and was noted for his faith and for sharing it with friends.

On the night of his death Elijah and a 26-year-old friend, Travis Leslie Fox, were at the home of Garrett James Ballard. The three had taken hallucinogenic drugs to mark Elijah’s birthday. Ballard later admitted to the shootings and was charged with capital murder; the case involved the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Rangers, and the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Lab.

Elijah’s memorial service was held on August 23, 2014, at the Burnet High School Auditorium. Does anyone who knew Elijah or was in Burnet at the time have memories or information to share?
