Travis Leslie Fox was 26 when he was killed on August 19, 2014, in Burnet, Texas. Born October 11, 1987, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, he later moved to Burnet with his family. He worked as a landscaper for Premier Landscape Company and was remembered for his love of music, art, and animals.
The case was part of a double homicide. On August 29, 2014, Garrett James Ballard shot and killed Fox and 17-year-old Elijah Adam Benson at Ballard’s home. Ballard told authorities he and his friends had taken LSD and that he felt threatened as the drug took effect; neither victim was armed or had harmed him. Ballard was arrested, convicted of capital murder, and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole; the district attorney did not seek the death penalty.
Travis’s death had a deep impact on his family and the Burnet community. If anyone knew Travis, his routines, or was in the area that night, any information could still be important.
