Charles K. Goodridge, a 53-year-old Black man, died on July 9, 2014, in Cypress, Texas, after an off-duty Harris County deputy constable shot him following a confrontation in front of an apartment complex. The shooting and what followed were captured on dashboard camera footage that later drew public scrutiny.

The footage and reports show Goodridge lying on the ground bleeding while responding officers reportedly stood nearby for about 15 minutes without providing aid. He was not taken to a hospital for over an hour and later died of his injuries. After he was shot, officers handcuffed Goodridge and an officer used his boot to push Goodridge’s head into the ground when Goodridge tried to lift it.

Civil rights advocates and police conduct specialists criticized the responding officers for failing to provide immediate medical attention and described the treatment as callous. No arrests or suspects have been named, and the case did not lead to any significant litigation or murder investigation as of this account.

Does anyone have information about this incident or knew Charles Goodridge that could help clarify what happened that day?
