Rodney Leon Youngblood, 56, was one of two men fatally shot inside a mobile home in Coldspring, Texas, on July 7, 2014. Deputies from the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office responded around 4:15 PM to the afternoon shooting that also claimed the life of Johnny McHenry.
Investigators say three men — Robert Hawkins Jr., James McCray, and Quienten White — went to the victims’ home intending to rob them of drugs. A confrontation during the robbery escalated to gunfire and both victims were killed. Robert Hawkins Jr., age 30, was convicted of capital murder and given 45 years; James McCray pleaded guilty to murder and received 50 years. Quienten White was awaiting trial at the time of the report.
Rodney Youngblood’s obituary notes his role as a cherished family member and friend and that funeral services were held in Coldspring. Does anyone have information about the afternoon of July 7, 2014, or knew Rodney and can share details that might help fill gaps in the timeline?
