Dominique Reed, 21, of Beaumont, Texas, was killed in a shooting on April 3, 2014. She and a friend had just finished a girls’ night out and were exchanging insurance information after a minor car accident when a man armed with an assault-style rifle approached. The man shot Dominique while she remained in the car; her friend escaped and sought help. A Good Samaritan who came to assist was also shot in the shoulder before the shooter fled.

Investigators described the suspect as a heavy-set Hispanic man, possibly 250–300 pounds, with dark hair and an eye abnormality. He was believed to have been driving a black Chevy or GMC pickup, likely with front-end damage on the driver’s side from the collision. Authorities have identified Oscar Nava Lopez as a person of interest and believe he may be in Mexico. Dominique’s mother, Debra Johnson, has spoken publicly about the family’s need for closure and the impact on Dominique’s two-year-old son, Levi.

The case remains unsolved and the Beaumont Police Department continues to seek tips. If anyone has information about that night, please contact Crime Stoppers or the Beaumont Police Department.
