Reshawna Danielle Hawkins, 30, was fatally shot in the face at her home on Fourth Street in Beaumont, Texas, on March 16, 2014. The shooting occurred during a violent altercation in which three other family members were attacked; two of her brothers, Anthony Ray Jr. and Darrel Hawkins, were also killed and a girlfriend was wounded but survived.
Police say the assailant was Reshawna’s brother, Joe Frederick Hawkins, then 27, who witnesses reported had an altercation with all four victims before producing a handgun and opening fire. Joe Frederick Hawkins was arrested by Beaumont police on March 17, 2014; he was later indicted on three counts of murder and sentenced to life in prison. Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty because he was assessed as having an intellectual disability with an IQ below 70.
Reshawna left behind children and a grieving family. Does anyone have information about the victims’ lives in Beaumont or recall events around Fourth Street on March 16, 2014?
