Yvonne Gauthier, 46, was killed at her home in Denison, Texas on February 6, 2014. Authorities determined the attack was a murder; a murder warrant was later issued for her ex-boyfriend, Aaron Lynn Smith. Smith’s body was subsequently found in his pickup truck in Cartwright, Oklahoma. Investigators said his death may have resulted from a mixture of pills and alcohol or from exposure to wintry weather. The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office recovered a rifle from Smith’s truck as part of the inquiry.
Gauthier was a longtime DFW area resident who worked for Baylor Rehab in Dallas for 19 years. Survivors include her daughter Kirsten Baker, her grandson Jacob Baker, her mother Corrine Korge Gauthier and her sister Donna Sellers. The circumstances around Smith’s death and the sequence of events leading to Gauthier’s killing left open questions in the investigation.
If anyone knew Yvonne, Aaron Lynn Smith, or saw relevant activity in Denison or Cartwright around February 2014, please share what was seen or heard.
