On the evening of Thursday, September 17, 2009, 20-year-old Gregory Thomas, a Black male, was shot and killed in St. Louis after confronting several people he saw attempting to break into cars near the 500 block of North 20th Street. He was taken to a hospital but died of his injuries.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Division opened an investigation but the case grew cold. No suspects have been publicly identified or arrested in connection with Gregory’s death, and the case remains open.
