Sergeant Lance Allen Lou McLean, 38, was killed in the line of duty on June 29, 2013, after responding to a disturbance call at a house on Oak Trail Shores in Granbury, Texas. During the incident he was shot in the head by the suspect, Ricky Don McCommas; another officer was injured and McCommas was later killed by responding officers after fleeing to the Granbury City Hall parking lot and exchanging gunfire. McLean was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, where he was pronounced dead.

McLean served with the Hood County Sheriff’s Office and was remembered for his infectious smile and dedication to the community. His family includes a wife and two special needs children, and they received support from fellow officers, friends, and neighbors after his death. Reports noted McCommas had a history of mental health issues and prior disturbances.

Does anyone have photographs, memories, or local context about McLean’s life and service to share with the community?
