Ruth Rodriguez, 25, was found shot to death in a car on Brushy Creek Road near West Parmer Lane on October 26, 2010. Police discovered her body after responding to reports of shots fired; she was identified as the victim the following day. A witness who had stopped to offer help was cut by shattered glass and provided a description that led to the arrest of her husband, 35-year-old Hernan Mendieta.

Mendieta was charged with murder and held with bail set at $500,000; the charging documents stated he faced up to 99 years or life if convicted. Authorities also reported the involvement of a third person but did not disclose that person’s identity or role, and investigators said additional charges were possible. Ruth Rodriguez left behind a 4-year-old son who was staying with a relative at the time.

Are there readers who remember the area that night or who have information about the third person mentioned in the investigation?
