A housewarming party in McAllen, Texas, ended in violence on April 30, 2006, when three people were killed. Police say 32-year-old Alma Ramirez, a Hispanic nurse at McAllen Medical Center, was shot and killed by her husband, Arthur Ramirez, during the gathering at 420 Quail Ave. Another victim, 22-year-old Rene Rodriguez, was also killed.
Officers arrived just before 3 a.m. to find Arthur Ramirez barricaded inside. After a roughly 20-minute standoff he came out of the back garage and fired at officers, who returned fire; Arthur Ramirez was later pronounced dead at McAllen Medical Center. The couple’s 10-year-old son was at the party and was placed in friends’ custody afterward. Jealousy was reported as a possible motive after Arthur became enraged when his wife spoke with Rene Rodriguez. The officers involved were placed under investigation and a grand jury review was expected.
Does anyone have information about the attendees or that neighborhood that could shed light on what happened that night?
