Linda Bunkley, 47, of Willis, Texas, was shot and killed in her home on August 3, 2004. The fatal shooting occurred during a violent episode in which her husband, Harold Wayne Bunkley, had been drinking beer and using crack cocaine and was reported by witnesses to be angry and agitated about household tensions.
Witness testimony, including from Harold’s son James Nickerson, described Harold lying on top of Linda, pulling her hair and yelling before the shooting. Harold claimed at trial that the shooting was accidental, but the jury convicted him of murder. The case was prosecuted in the 359th District Court of Montgomery County, Texas; the trial court’s judgment was affirmed on appeal.
If anyone knew Linda or saw signs of trouble in that household before August 3, 2004, please share what you know.
