Michael P. Harbin, 38, was found dead in Kansas City, Missouri, on March 4, 2009. Authorities classified the discovery as a homicide, and services were later held at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Brooking Cemetery.

Investigators did not make immediate arrests. The case encountered familiar obstacles: a lack of cooperative witnesses and insufficient forensic evidence to identify a perpetrator during the initial investigation.
