On the evening of January 8, 2009, in the North City area of St. Louis, 42-year-old Terry L. Darris was shot twice in the back after he confronted people near his car when its alarm went off. A Florissant resident and a U.S. Postal Service employee for more than two decades, Darris also served as president of the Ghost Doggs Motorcycle Club. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

Witnesses described three Black males in a black two-door automobile and reported hearing multiple gunshots and a fleeing vehicle. Investigators believed the suspects were targeting cars for theft and were interrupted by Darris. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department asked the public for tips; no immediate arrests were reported and the case remained listed as an open homicide in later local coverage.

If anyone saw activity in the 2900 block of Lotus Avenue that night or has information that could help, please contact Crimestoppers or the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
