Edward Lee Persons Jr., a 30-year-old African American man, was shot dead in Corsicana, Texas, on September 22, 1987. He was killed after being shot multiple times with a .22-caliber pistol during a violent spree that also claimed the lives of the shooter’s former boss, James Wade, and the shooter’s estranged wife, Brenda.
Howard Franklin Stewart, 37, was identified as the lone perpetrator. Investigators linked the .22-caliber weapon used in the Texas shootings to three killings in Missouri that Stewart had confessed to. Stewart later died by suicide with a .38-caliber revolver shortly after the Texas shootings. No other arrests or suspects were named in Persons Jr.’s death.
Does anyone who knew Edward Lee Persons Jr. or who was in Corsicana that day have information that could add to the record?
