I came across something about Sergeant Ronald D. Slockett's case that got me thinking about the technology available to officers back in 1987. It's so upsetting to learn he wasn't wearing a bulletproof vest during that tragic traffic stop. I can't help but wonder how many officers might have felt similarly vulnerable due to the lack of equipment back then. It really highlights the need for ongoing support and funding for our police departments to ensure they're as protected as possible. It's a tragedy that his family and community had to endure such a loss. Does anyone know if his sacrifice led to any changes in how police departments equip their officers? I think discussing how things have evolved since then might help honor his memory.
