Bryan Drew Boone was 19 when he was killed on May 4, 1986, near Lake Hawkins in Hawkins, Texas. He and his girlfriend Gena Turner and their friend Suzanne Harrison were kidnapped that day by Jerry Walter McFadden, known as The Animal. Harrison was raped and strangled and later found dumped in a park about 25 miles from Lake Hawkins.

Three days after the kidnapping the bodies of Boone and Turner were found; both had been shot execution-style with a .38-caliber pistol. McFadden was arrested on May 6, 1986, after a separate attack at the lake led to a police report. Ammunition in his possession was linked to the killings. He later escaped from jail in July 1986, briefly took a female prison officer hostage, was recaptured, and received life imprisonment for the escape. In July 1987 he was sentenced to death for the murders and the sentence was affirmed on appeal in November 1993.

Does anyone have memories of Lake Hawkins in 1986 or information about Boone’s life that could help preserve his memory?
