Todd Payton was an 11-year-old boy who was murdered on November 13, 1972. Carr’s car reportedly had its inside back doors disabled; the trunk contained food, jars of petroleum jelly, and a shovel. Both boys were raped, and Todd Payton was strangled that day; Mark Wilson was strangled four days later. Carr is said to have driven to Mississippi and Louisiana and buried one boy in each state. Both families reported the boys missing when they failed to return home.
