Norma French was 85 when she died on October 8, 2016. She was born August 14, 1931, in Galveston, Texas, graduated from Ball High School and earned a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Texas at Austin. Described as a dedicated homemaker who was active in her church, she enjoyed family, travel and gardening.
Her death was originally classified as natural, but on April 18, 2019, her death certificate was amended to list homicidal violence including smothering. Investigators linked her death to Billy Chemirmir, a home health worker who was charged in a series of deaths of elderly women in the Dallas area; authorities say he allegedly smothered victims with a pillow after gaining access by posing as a maintenance worker or aide and stole jewelry and other valuables.
Did anyone in the Dallas area know Norma or have information about her final months?
