On September 24, 2018, 63-year-old Jorge Martinez, a Hispanic man, was brutally attacked in Santa Monica, California. Witnesses and investigators reported he was struck in the head with what appeared to be bolt cutters. Martinez was taken to a local hospital and died of his injuries on September 30, 2018.
Authorities identified and apprehended 50-year-old Ramon Alberto Escobar shortly after the attack. Officers linked surveillance footage to previous assaults in Los Angeles and found a wooden baseball bat and a pair of bolt cutters on Escobar, items believed to have been used in the assaults. Escobar’s attacks occurred over several weeks in September 2018 and targeted multiple individuals, primarily homeless men; reported motives included robbery and personal grievances.
What information about Jorge’s last days or the September incidents might help fill gaps in the timeline or identify others affected?
