Travis DeWayne Coleman was a two-month-old infant who died July 3, 1982, in Blountstown, Florida, while in the care of a babysitter named Christine Falling. The cause of Travis’s death was recorded as suffocation. Falling, then 19, later admitted to using suffocation and strangulation in multiple killings of children she babysat and described having an uncontrollable urge to kill.
Christine Falling was charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder. She pleaded guilty to three murders, including Travis’s, in exchange for avoiding the death penalty and received life imprisonment. Her crimes prompted investigations into other child deaths and renewed attention to screening and supervision of caregivers.
If anyone knew Travis, his family, or had contact with Christine Falling around 1982, any information could still help clarify details about these cases.
