Robert Edward Gilroy Jr. was 18 when he was killed on September 15, 1977, in Norwood Park Township, Cook County, Illinois. His remains were later identified through dental records and he was buried at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois.
Gilroy is one of the victims attributed to John Wayne Gacy, who targeted teenage boys and young men in and around Chicago between 1972 and 1978. Investigators found multiple victims buried in the crawl space beneath Gacy’s house and others in the Des Plaines River; Gilroy’s remains were recovered during that investigation.
Are there details about Gilroy’s life or last known movements that could help preserve his memory or assist anyone researching this case?
