Robert David Winch was a 16-year-old white male who died on November 11, 1977, in Norwood Park Township, Cook County, Illinois. He had recently moved to Chicago from Kalamazoo, Michigan, after running away from a foster home. On the night he disappeared he was sitting with a friend at a local McDonald’s, having been dropped off there by his girlfriend, when a contractor later identified as John Wayne Gacy approached him and he was last seen leaving with that man.
Winch’s remains were recovered from the crawl space beneath Gacy’s home, where several victims were buried. A tiger’s eye belt buckle found inside the house was linked to Winch, and his remains were identified on September 12, 1979, through healed markings on bones from a prior accident. Winch was one of the victims included in the indictment that ultimately charged Gacy with 33 murders.
Did anyone who knew Robert in Chicago or Kalamazoo recognize the details of his last night or the tiger’s eye belt buckle?
