Thourn Nhep, a 46-year-old mechanic and father of three, was killed in a drive-by shooting at his Oakland home on December 10, 2011. The attack happened in the early morning on East 28th Street near 11th Avenue. Bullets sprayed the house while the family slept; a round passed through the wall and fatally struck Nhep. His wife and children were not physically injured but were left traumatized.
Neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots and saw a mid-size sedan speed away. Nhep’s 18-year-old daughter, Sok, said the house had been targeted twice before; she described her father as a good man with no involvement in criminal activity. Police believe the shooting was not random but have not identified a motive or made any arrests, and the investigation remains open.
Anyone with information about the shooting or the vehicle seen leaving the scene is asked to come forward to help the family obtain answers.
