Katherine Hall, 29, was found dead on January 4, 1999, in the southeast corner of East Baton Rouge Parish in the Vignes Lake subdivision off Hoo Shoo Too and Tiger Bend roads. Her body was reported nude, showing signs of strangulation and extensive postmortem mutilation. Investigators later noted a pattern in multiple cases: women left nude, beaten, strangled, mutilated and discarded in remote spots where discovery might be delayed.
Hall’s killing has been repeatedly identified as part of a series tied together by strangulation methods, sometimes involving zip ties, and by how the bodies were discarded. In late April 2004, sheriff’s deputies arrested Sean Vincent Gillis in connection with a cluster of Baton Rouge-area killings; early reporting named Hall among three women in the arrest and charging paperwork. Gillis was later indicted on counts that listed Hall among the alleged victims, and a July 2008 trial date was reported in connection with those charges.
Does anyone have information about Hall’s life, movements, or the area around Vignes Lake in early January 1999?
