Joyce Williams, a 36-year-old Black woman, was killed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on November 12, 1999. Her death became part of a cluster of unsolved murders of women in the city that left the community alarmed and investigators searching for connections.

Investigators later linked several of those cases to Sean Vincent Gillis. In April 2004 a tire track near a victim and DNA evidence helped identify Gillis as a suspect, and he confessed to multiple murders, including Joyce Williams. The case against him proceeded through plea and trial proceedings that followed.

Are there details about Joyce’s life or that day in November 1999 that anyone in Baton Rouge can share to help complete the picture?
