Johnnie Mae Williams, 45, was found dead in a wooded area of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in October 2003. A divorced mother of three who struggled with drug addiction and was involved in prostitution, Williams’ killing later became linked to a serial offender operating in the Baton Rouge area.
Investigators tied her death to evidence developed after the discovery of another victim, Donna Bennett Johnston, in February 2004. A distinctive tire track at the Johnston scene produced a lead that, together with DNA testing, connected Sean Vincent Gillis to the murders of Johnston, Williams and at least one other woman, Katherine Hall. Gillis told investigators he had known Williams for about eight years and that she had occasionally cleaned his house; he confessed to killing and mutilating her after picking her up that day.
Sean Vincent Gillis was arrested on April 29, 2004, and later pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of Johnnie Mae Williams, receiving a life sentence. Does anyone have information about Williams’ life in Baton Rouge or knew her whereabouts in October 2003?
