Devin Galley was 12 when he was killed on August 27, 2001. His death occurred during a series of family murders carried out by Terry Lee Hankins, who also gunned down his estranged wife Tammy and Tammy’s other child, 11-year-old Ashley Mason. After a five-hour standoff at his girlfriend’s apartment, Hankins surrendered and later confessed to additional killings, including his father and a half-sister roughly a year earlier.

Court records presented at his trial detailed a history of violent and disturbing behavior and described grim discoveries: his father’s body left in a recliner for ten months and his half-sister’s remains found in a plastic ice chest. Hankins was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to death; his execution occurred on June 2, 2009.
