Hey everyone,
I was recently reading up on the tragic series of events in the San Fernando Valley shooting spree, and I came across something that really made me pause. It seems that the attack on Michael Hendrix Planells happened super early in the morning, at 6:35 a.m., while he was just out trying to collect cans for recycling. It's so upsetting to think about how utterly random and senseless his murder was. That early on a Sunday morning, he was probably just starting his day or maybe doing something he's done many times before without issue.
The most unsettling part is to imagine that he was simply going about his daily routine when his life was taken so violently. It makes you reflect on how these simple everyday actions, something as innocent as recycling to possibly make a little extra money, can end so tragically due to factors you can't control. My heart truly goes out to his friends and family. It must be incredibly difficult not to have any answers or real sense of closure, especially when his death was part of something so much bigger and terrifying for the entire community.
I hope the community can come together to remember the victims and support each other through the recovery process. Would love to hear what others think about how the community has or can continue to heal after something like this.
Stay safe, everyone.
