J T Nichols was an 80-year-old patient who died in Nocona, Texas, on January 11, 2001. His death became part of a wider investigation into suspicious fatalities at Nocona General Hospital after forensic testing found mivacurium chloride, a muscle relaxant, in his exhumed remains. Excessive doses of that drug can cause respiratory failure.
Authorities linked Nichols and several other patients to a pattern of unexplained deaths during the tenure of licensed vocational nurse Vickie Dawn Jackson. Prosecutors charged Jackson with capital murder, alleging she had access to the drug and was present during multiple deaths; the case against her included medical records, witness testimony, and forensic findings. Families sued the hospital, alleging negligence in medication handling and supervision.
Nichols is among the victims whose deaths were central to the prosecution and subsequent convictions in the case. Does anyone have information about Nichols, his time at Nocona General Hospital, or contacts who might help clarify the circumstances around his care?
