Orvel Lee Moore Jr. was 82 when he died on January 30, 2001, in Nocona, Montague County, Texas. His death was one of a series of unusual fatalities at Nocona General Hospital between December 2000 and February 2001 that prompted a criminal investigation.

Authorities focused on a licensed vocational nurse, Vickie Dawn Jackson, who investigators say administered mivacurium chloride, a powerful muscle relaxant, to vulnerable patients. Prosecutors asserted some victims had been targeted after perceived slights, and exhumations and forensic tests reportedly detected the paralytic drug in several bodies. A joint investigation by local police, the Texas Rangers, and the FBI examined more than 20 suspicious deaths; Jackson was arrested July 16, 2002, charged with multiple counts of capital murder, later convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Families filed lawsuits against the hospital alleging negligence and wrongful death. What information might residents or former hospital staff from that period still have about patient care and medication controls at Nocona General Hospital?
