Everett E. Preacher Jackson was 91 when he died suddenly and unexpectedly on February 4, 2001, at Nocona General Hospital in Nocona, Texas. Admitted with cellulitis and a fever, his condition was not considered life-threatening and he was expected to recover, but he died during the hospital stay. The death was later determined to be a homicide caused by an injection of the muscle relaxant mivacurium chloride, which can induce respiratory arrest if given improperly.
Investigators linked this death to a pattern of unexplained fatalities at the hospital between December 2000 and February 2001 that coincided with the night shifts of a licensed vocational nurse employed there. Missing vials of Mivacron and a syringe with traces of the drug were found during the inquiry, and one of the victims was the grandfather of the nurse’s estranged husband, who also worked at the hospital as a nurse’s aide. Does anyone have information about Everett’s final days at Nocona General Hospital or the wider pattern of deaths during that period?
