Edward Daniel Moore was a 20-year-old White Marine from Louisville, Kentucky, who was murdered while stationed at Camp Pendleton. He was last seen leaving his barracks on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1972. His body was found around 1:45 a.m. on December 26, 1972, near the Seventh Street off-ramp from the 405 Freeway in Seal Beach, Orange County.

The killing was brutal: Moore had been strangled and bludgeoned, with bite marks on his genitals and one of his own socks inserted into his rectum. Investigators later linked the murder to Randy Steven Kraft after finding a coded list in Kraft’s vehicle; an entry reading EDM was interpreted as referring to Edward Daniel Moore. In May 1989 Kraft was convicted of sixteen counts of murder, including Moore’s, and was sentenced to death.

Does anyone have memories or leads about Moore’s time at Camp Pendleton or his last movements on December 24 that could shed more light on this case?
