Nancy Carol Stevens, a 46-year-old Black woman from Decatur, Alabama, was found dead on the side of County Road 41 in Lee County, Mississippi in the summer of 2005. An autopsy determined the cause of death to be manual strangulation, confirming she had been murdered. Initial investigations involved the Lee County Sheriff’s Department and the Decatur Police Department, but leads went cold and the case remained unsolved for years.

In 2018 the case was revived after incarcerated serial killer Samuel Little confessed to killing a woman named Nancy in the Tupelo, Mississippi area. During an October 23, 2018 interview at the Wise County Jail in Decatur, Texas, Little said he met Nancy in a Walmart parking lot in Tupelo, killed her in his RV, then left her body on County Road 41. Investigators reportedly found details in his statement that matched the Stevens homicide. The case was prepared for presentation to a Lee County grand jury in January following that interview.

Did anyone who knew Nancy or who was in Tupelo around the summer of 2005 notice her or recall seeing an RV in the Walmart parking lot?
