A quiet Saturday morning in Hoover, Alabama, ended in tragedy on March 15, 2025. Fifty-five-year-old Rosalind Barclay was shot and killed outside a residence on Jasmine Way after an argument with a family member escalated. Neighbors reported hearing as many as six gunshots during the confrontation near her vehicle.

Police say the dispute involved Rosalind and her 40-year-old brother, Jonathan Arthur Barclay. An off-duty state law enforcement officer who heard the gunfire detained Jonathan at the scene; Hoover Police arrived about 8:10 a.m. Rosalind was found with multiple gunshot wounds, taken to UAB Hospital, and pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Jonathan Barclay was arrested, charged with murder, and held without bail pending transfer to the Jefferson County Jail. The motive for the argument has not been disclosed.

This was reported as Hoover’s first homicide of the year. If anyone knew Rosalind or witnessed what happened on Jasmine Way that morning, please share what you remember.
