Marquise Scott, 22, was shot dead inside an apartment at Creekwood Village Apartments in Tuscaloosa on January 18, 2025. Police found Scott with multiple gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene; he was male.

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit investigated and within a day arrested 25-year-old Lagabriel Jones, charging him with murder. Investigators say the men were acquainted and had a history of disputes that may have led to the fatal encounter. Jones is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bond.
