Jennifer Leon, a 33-year-old Hispanic woman, was pronounced dead on May 6, 2025, after suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Officers responding to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex on West Mines Avenue in Montebello found her inside a residence and she was later declared dead at a nearby hospital at 8:26 p.m.

Police classified the incident as a homicide. Witnesses reported seeing someone fleeing the scene and investigators located a Chevrolet Silverado pickup believed to be connected to that person. Inside the truck officers found a deceased man with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head; authorities suspect he may have been involved in Leon’s killing but the investigation is ongoing and no motive has been released.
